The Blind Side English Movie Review And Watch Online

Before it was a film, The Blind Side began as a sports-analysis book by Michael Lewis. Quite by accident, it became the moving story of the All American football player Michael Oher of the Baltimore Ravens.

The author contacted his old baseball teammate, Sean Tuohy, and interviewed him about their high school baseball coach. While he was in the Tuohys home he learned about the Tuohys’ unusual adoptiion of Oher, a homeless black teenager. Lewis scrapped his original idea of writing a baseball book and decided to write about football and, incidentally, the phenomenal tale of the Tuohy family’s involvement with Oher.

What makes their story so unique is the divergent backgrounds of the Tuohys and Oher. He’s from the Hurt Village projects in Memphis, Tenn., and earns scholarship at their daughters’ Christian academy. Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy are ultra-wealthy white Southerners living in an exclusive suburb of Memphis. Despite their different worlds, Oher shares their lives and captures their hearts. The parents and their two children open their home and arms to Oher and wonder who is benefitting the most from the experience. It’s a win-win situation and an uplifting film by John Lee Hancock, the same filmmaker who brought us the entertaining film, The Rookie, with Dennis Quaid.

My rating is five stars for an outstanding script and performances. Sandra Bullock is perfectly cast as the blond, confident Southern Belle with a big heart. Jae Head plays Sean Tuohy Jr. (AKA S.J.). He’s a natural as the precocious fast-talking, wonderfully kind little brother to Big Mike, the lonely black kid in an all-white alien environment. Oher, played masterfully by Quinton Aaron, is a harmless giant, whose luck finally changes for the best when he meets the Tuohys. He excels in football and in life thanks to their loving support. We, the audience, feel their connection. These actors convince us they are the Tuohys. There’s never a dull moment in this stirring family/football saga. See it and bring the kids!

De Dana Dan Hindi Movie Review And Watch Online

They couldn't have come up with a more inappropriate title for the new Akshay Kumar starrer than De Dana Dan, a term usually used to signify something quick. The thing is, Priyadarshan's latest comedy is anything but quick. At two hours and 40 minutes, it's a laboriously long, patience-testing exercise in idiocy about some 20-odd characters stuck in a five-star hotel where mistaken identities and misunderstandings result in loud arguments, comic-book action and crude humor.

Akshay Kumar plays down-on-his-luck servant boy Nitin Bankar, who can't take any more humiliation from his tyrant boss, and finally conspires with his buddy to kidnap her beloved pooch and demand a ransom. The dog, as it turns out, is smarter than the men. He escapes from their hands, but the police believe that Nitin has been kidnapped.

Don't ask how this situation leads to the one in the hotel, but it does. There's a wedding happening, a murder attempted, a prostitute being solicited, and lots of money changing hands. Eventually, it ends with a bomb exploding in the water tank and a flood - think Titanic here – gutting the entire hotel.

In the tradition of many recent low-brow comedies from the same director, De Dana Dan is cheerfully dumb and doesn't aspire for anything more than cheap laughs. The film's first half is dreadfully dull, and the second only marginally better.

Rajpal Yadav as a corrupt waiter, and Johnny Lever as a bumbling hitman are the two bright spots in this annoying ensemble that includes talented actors like Paresh Rawal, Vikram Gokhale and Archana Puran Singh who pretty much spend the entire film yelling at the top of their lungs. Neha Dhupia scores with a winning turn as the hot-headed hooker who just wants to get her money and leave.

The film's leading man, Akshay Kumar, sportingly goes along with the silliness, but he's done all of this many times before. In the film's second half, he's locked up in a closet for about 40 minutes, leaving the rest of the cast to carry on the show. How you wish you could hide somewhere too, or slip into a coma even – anything really to avoid watching the rest of this drivel.

Over the years one has lowered one's expectations considerably when going in to watch a Priyadarshan comedy. De Dana Dan is no different.

I'm going with one-and-a-half out of five for director Priyadarshan's De Dana Dan; carry ear plugs with you, or a Saridon. Or both. A migraine is guaranteed.

Rating: 1.5 / 5

Twilight Saga New Moon English Movie Review And Watch Online

Robert Pattinson-Kristen Stewart starrer The Twilight Saga: New Moon has got rave reviews from the critics. But the Twilight sequel has left many fans feeling a bit disappointed. Several fans are not happy with director Catherine Hardwicke. They feel it could have been so much more than what Catherine made it.

Some viewers feel that Robert Pattinson is just as bad at acting as he was in the first one, but Taylor Lautner's role balances it out quite well. Taylor and Kristen have much better chemistry. Some even think that Kristen Stewart seriously needs acting lessons. She's terrible. She has failed to express the emotion or feeling that her role demands

Love Ka Tadka Hindi Movie Review And Watch Online

A baseless film with no storyline is what Love Ka Tadka is. What else do you expect from a film that revolves around vegetarian and non-vegetarian food habits? So, it’s definitely not recommended but if you still want to know why, you may read the rest of the review.

The film starts with an item number which brings no joy to the audiences. Anyway, so once the film actually begins, it’s about a guy, Aditya, who works as a small-time executive and is flanked by his bearded best friend and his sick boss who likes chasing after much younger women. Then arrives the female lead, Sheetal, accompanied by her loud father.

Aditya gets married to Sheetal but that’s not enough. They need to impress her dad for which they need to buy a flat. And you know what’s strange? Daddy dearest is left roaming on Mumbai’s streets and then put into bearded friend, Vicky’s house, while they get a loan for the house. But acquiring a house wasn’t the end of all issues. The couple has now moved into a strictly vegetarian society and it means trouble for the couple that survives on non-veg. food. They somehow manage to get the people from the society to follow their non-vegetarian food habits and preach about tolerance towards all kinds of food.

So, all in all, a pointless script coupled with bad performances makes it very easy for audiences to give this movie a miss. Thus it is absolutely not recommended.

Vijaya Dasami Telugu Movie Review And Watch Online

Though Samudra is known to be a specialist in remakes, he failed to make it this time. Kalyanram, who had no notable hits in his career tried his hand as a producer and succeeded to get a blockbuster, 'Athanokkade' in the direction of Surender Reddy. However, the next flick again turned a dud. He kept high hopes on 'Vijayadasami', which is the remake of a successful Tamil film 'Sivakasi' as it has lots of mass elements. However, with no novelty in the movement of the film, the film appeared to have targeted the front benchers alone. But for a couple of action scenes, the film has nothing much to boast off. The film appeared to be a routine commercial film with mass elements sans any masala.

Sivakasi (Kalyanram) runs a welding shed. However, he always remains helpful for the people around him. He meets Devi (Vedika), daughter of a big businessman (Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao) accidentally. On another occasion, he goes to the college and brings Devi to save one of his friends from the police and takes her back to the college on his bike. Thinking that Devi and Sivakasi were moving together, Devi's brothers misunderstand that they were in love and Sivakasi makes it true to teach them a lesson.

After a few turn of events Devi's father tells Sivakasi that he could not give his daughter to an orphan. Then Sivakasi reveals that he is not an orphan but was staying away from his family due to some differences and as per the order by his father and reveals the flashback. He comes out that his real name is Shakti and was the son of Chennamaneni Rajeswara Rao (Suman), a village elder of Vemulawada. During his childhood, Durga Prasad (Saikumar) the elder brother of Shakti, causes the death of a woman and his father mistakes that it was the fault of Shakti and orders him to get out of the village. Sivakasi tells Devi, her father and brothers that he will bring his family members by Vijayadasami.

After going to their native place, Shakti comes to know that his father died already and his brother Durga was behaving in an inhuman way towards his mother and thrown out his sister before her marriage. How Shakti teaches Durga a lesson? Will he be able to unite with his family? Did Durga realise his follies and understands that blood relationship is greater than everything? Answers to all these questions form part of the climax.

Kurbaan Hindi Movie Review And Watch Online

Love blossoms between a Delhi college professor, Avantika (Kareena) and her newly joined colleague, Ehsaan Khan (Saif). But as she receives a call to join back her University in New York, Ehsaan proposes marriage. While her father initially disapproves of the match because of Ehsaan being a Muslim, he finally gives his nod impressed by Ehsaans approach. The couple goes to New York and finds a house in an Indian neighbourhood. But soon Avantika realizes her own husband is a major part of the terrorist sleeper cell operating there and is the reason for aeroplane blast that kills 140 people. She also comes to know that the terror outfits next plane is something as big as 9/11. How she unearths the plot with a journalist Riyaaz s (Vivek) aid and what it all leads forms the rest of the plot.

Writer Rensil DSilva (Rang De Basanti) making his directorial debut with Kurbaan delivers a taut thriller that keeps you engrossed throughout. Despite its long running time of over 2 hours and 40 minutes his gripping narrative has enough twists n turns and chilling moments. Cutting away from commercial cinema traps and unwanted cinematic liberties, he has made Kurbaan one of the best thrillers to be experienced on the big screen in recent times. Without taking any sides, the film manages to strike an impact leaving you shaken with the full of bloodshed climax. Super aid comes in form of Niranjan Iyengar and Anurag Kashyaps dialogues. They are precise and to the point without sounding preachy. The classroom sequence when American students question discuss terrorism and Islam and Vivek Oberois replies to them is one of the films most important and noteworthy sequence. Though the place drops a bit post interval, the 35 40 minute long climax keeps you on the edge of your seat. The much talked about love making sequence is very aesthetically shot. Salim Suleimans music is good and fits in the movie well with no lip sync songs

.

Saif Ali Khan has always been very good whenever he has gone wicked and here as well he comes up triumphs in a grey role. The way he changes his body language and facial expressions from a charming romantic to a cold blooded terrorist is just superb. Kareena Kapoor proves yet again why she is considered a top rated actress today. However, in many emotional sequences she appears very similar in her act to her elder sister, Karisma. After a really very long time Vivek Oberoi leaves you extremely impressed. His mature act is bound to win him many accolades and awards for sure. Om Puri as the terrorist sleeper cell head is very good. Kirron Kher after a long time gets a non-Punjabi mom role and she is has delivered one of her career best performance in this one. Dia Mirza and Nauheed Cyrusi leave you impressed despite their short roles.

Hemant Chaturvedis camerawork matches international standards and so does Nakul Kamtes Sound work.

Finally, a big applause for Karan Johar for making under his Dharma Productions, a film which is very unlike any previous film made under his prestigious banner and one which is not only extremely well made but also very topical.

The Fourth Kind English Movie Review And Watch Online

In theaters: Friday, November 6, 2009.

In, 1972, a scale of measurement was established for alien encounters. When a UFO is sighted, it is called an encounter of the first kind. When evidence is collected, it is known as an encounter of the second kind. When contact is made with extraterrestrials, it is the third kind.

The next level, ABDUCTION, is the fourth kind. This encounter has been the most difficult to document until now. Structured unlike any film before it, The Fourth Kind is a provocative thriller set in modern-day Nome, Alaska, where -- mysteriously since the 1960s -- a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year. Despite multiple FBI investigations of the region, the truth has never been discovered.

Here in this remote region, psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler (Milla Jovovich) began videotaping sessions with traumatized patients and unwittingly discovered some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented.

Using never-before-seen archival footage that is integrated into the film, The Fourth Kind exposes the terrified revelations of multiple witnesses. Their accounts of being visited by alien figures all share disturbingly identical details, the validity of which is investigated throughout the film.

This movie could prove to be very important to UFOlogists and to mankind in general. If the contents of the movie live up to their billing then millions of people will have the opportunity to experience alien abduction and realize the real horror inflicted on the abductees. It scares the hell of out of me. Dirk

Saa Boo Three Tamil Movie Review And Watch Online

When Tamil cinema is witnessing certain good quality films, there are still few filmmakers who’re brimmed with ostentatious ideas. Saa Boo Thri is nothing but replicated ideas from various western side flicks as well Bollywood movies that are indeed so famous here amongst Tamil film buffs.

What was Arshad Khan’s idea while he penned this script? We aren’t blaming about the filmmaker for everyone’s idea seems to be substantial from their point of view. We’ve no rights to comment about his perceptions on the story.

But then, the film must really do well across any one of the centres amongst A, B or C. Saa Boo Thri is spotted with matured themes with realms of double etendre lines, which gradually shrinks our faces as we’re watching the film along with family members.

Precisely, there happens to be a particular story of Prajan and Sara (married couples). Though, it’s likely seeming to be similar with SRK’s previous release of 2008 and Mitr – My friend (ideas shared between husband and wife through email without knowing their real online identities), it has some interesting elements to watch. But remaining two portions, especially Arshad Khan falling in love with a woman elder in age is an exact copycat of Akshay Khanna-Dimple Kapadia affair in ‘DIL CHAHTA HAI’.

The film revolves around 3 friends: Pal (Arshad Khan), Keerthi (Prajan) and Akshay (Bala) residing across the same area. Much alike the famous Hindi movie we mentioned (DIL CHAHTA Hai starring Aamir Khan, Akshay Khanna and Saif Ali Khan), the film is about these friends and their love approach. Keerthi is married to Jo (Mithuna), but they don’t even dare to look at each other for a moment resulting in misunderstanding. Pal has great likeliness for women elder in age to him and finds a woman and decides to propose her. Akshay (Bala) falls in love with Sherin (Pinky) and later he falls for Lekha (Mithuna). With all these friends on the verge of something they never predicted is followed by unexpected things falling disorder.

Saa Boo Thri can be better labeled as a ‘Gen Next flick’, but fails to engross the young cohorts of Tamil audiences. Prajan does a decent job living up to expectations while Arshad Khan looks cool in front of camera and seems to be confident. Mithuna, Ujjainee and others have done justice to their roles. Bala is okay. Musical score by Abbas Rafi isn’t worth listening to and the director could’ve more focused on technical aspects.

Finally, ‘Saa Boo Thri’ may hold some special attention amongst multiplex audiences, but then we aren’t sure about the film’s success at box office. Arshad Khan better luck time, you can do better.

A Aa E Eee Telugu Movie Review And Watch Online

A daily and common treat, the movie is about Chandram (srikanth) a good hearted man and he leads a happy married life with his wife Kalyani (meera). But then, Chandram needs money as he is told about the serious ailment to Kalyani which will complicate her pregnancy as well. As fate would have it, he stumbles upon a cash bag and his lawyer friend (Krishna bhagawan) gives him a good idea. That bag belongs to the rich girl Ramya (sada) who is presumed dead and due to unexpected circumstances, Chandram is forced to act that he is Ramya’s husband in front of her parents. The news takes a turn when Ramya lands up at her home and from then on, Chandram has to balance between her and his real wife Kalyani. How did all this happen? What will Chandram do? All this forms the rest of the story
The director has come up with an outdated news and though the show was okay, the narrative was dull. The dialogues were good at places, the script was average and the screenplay was normal. Background score was good and two songs are worth humming. Cinematography was accepted and the editing was crisp. Costumes were as usual and the art department was good in the songs. Srikanth did his performance as required and his presence was justified throughout. Meera Jasmine was alright with her act and no issues on that end. Sada looks hot and seductive, she has scored well in the performance department as well. Comedians like Sunil, Ali, M S Narayana, Raghu Babu, Uttej etc did a good job and brought few laughs. Tanikella was standard, script could have been better, Venkat looked desperate, the others did their bit as required.
The film is more of a sentimental melodrama and despite the presence of huge number of comedians, there was not enough ammunition to give the audience a laugh riot. While the first half goes on a stale mode, it is not until the interval that the news takes a twist, the second half goes about peeling off the layers and the climax was absolutely old timed. There is not much for the mass audience and little for the family audience. Overall, this might fizzle out at the box office.

2012 English Movie Review And Watch Online

Roland Emmerich is the true Disaster Movie Maven. Remember the thrills he gave us with Independence Day and The Day After Tomorrow? Well, he is back doing what he is best at with this apocalyptic sci-fi thriller stemming from the Mayan calendar’s prediction that the world will come to an end on December 21st, 2012. The story follows an academic researcher who opens a portal into a parallel universe to make contact with his double in order to prevent the catastrophic prophecies of the ancient Mayan calendar.

A global cataclysm thrusts the world into chaos and it’s up to writer Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) to use his knowledge of the ancient prophecies to save the human race. What begins as his mission to protect his estranged wife and two kids, turns into a world saving Superman mission. We’ve seen it often enough – one man, with a couple of sidekicks battling a disastrous natural calamity, just to save his family. 2012, follows the same line of thought with the predictive Mayan Calendar and Roland Emmerich’s disaster portrayal skills to back it up. 2012, we promise is one of the largest larger than life films in recent times.

Agreed, the theme is stale – but the way Roland brings the world to an end – the way he rips the United States of America apart is amazing! And just so we don’t miss out on the action, the lead family travels from place to place, always being present at the most catastrophic moments in each of those places! Before you begin to wonder, if only the American world is sinking under the towering waves, Roland shows you the destruction of Rio Di Janeiro, Buenos Aires and St Peter's Basilica – all in the same awe-inspiring way. Roland must truly hate the world to want to shred it to bits, thus! There isn’t much of a storyline because we all know what to expect and that’s precisely what happens. But the Disaster Master has reclaimed his title!

Aao Wish Karein Hindi Movie Review And Watch Online

Aao Wish Karein is a sweet film with a simple story that reminds of Tom Hanks 1988 film ‘ Big with a refreshingly revised screenplay.

12 year old Mickey's life was almost like a fairy tale, a beautiful family, best buddy 'Bonnie' and his angel on earth – Mitika (Aamna Shariff). But one beautiful day Mickey's fairy tale gets shattered into million pieces. It was the day he realized he was an adopted child and his 23 year old angel Mitika called him a 'Kid'. Tired and drained of all emotions he sat all by himself until Hitchcock (Johnny Lever) read his sad story.

Mickey was feeling so low that he wished for a Miracle. He wished to become big. That night he walked into his house like a kid. To his astonishment he woke up next morning and realized that his wish had been granted. He had turned big (Aftab Shivdasani). But was this miracle a blessing or a curse in disguise?

The story doesn’t waste unnecessary time and gets to the point from the very start. Once Mickey grows up the fun ride begins. The bonding between Mickey and his Sardar friend Bonnie in the hill-station of Shimla has the feel and freshness of Hrithik Roshan’s Koi Mil Gaya . The romance between Mitika and the young-at-heart Mickey is sublime and has its saccharine coated feel-good moments.

Of course there are some places where the script tends to get ‘larger-than-life’. It’s a little difficult to digest the fact that when Mickey grows up overnight, he becomes a game designer and is also gifted with a bungalow by his boss for his quick achievements. Also with the romance track taking prominence there’s not much mention on Mickey’s family that resurfaces only in the climax.

Cinematographer Keshav Prakash captures the scenic town of Shimla to an eye-pleasing effect. The musical score is breezy. Aftab Shivdasani who has written the screenplay gives an interesting twist to the tale in the climax imparting the film its distinct identity.

Aftab adds lively moments in the film playing an adult who’s literally a child at heart. Aamna Shariff looks as charming as a fairy and shares great chemistry with Aftab. Johnny Lever has a different shade to his character this time. The kids are decent.

This fantasy fairy tale is a perfect family affair.

Tum Mile Hindi Movie Review And Watch Online

In Tum Mile, a couple faces two storms. The storm within, when they come face to face after their breakup. The storm outside, when a natural calamity strikes Mumbai on 26th July, 2005 [unprecedented rainfall devastated Mumbai on this date].
After Jannat, director Kunal Deshmukh [KD] chooses a love story yet again. It's about an estranged couple, but the wallpaper in Tum Mile is the Mumbai floods. Naturally then, the expectations from Tum Mile are colossal, given the fact that Tum Mile is the first film that attempts to chronicle the natural calamity on celluloid, with seriousness.

Had KD limited himself to narrating the ups and downs in a live-in relationship, Tum Mile may've struck a chord. But if you're attempting a disaster movie [its promotions send out strong signals], you'd be eager to know how KD recreates the horrors of 26th July on celluloid. Let's not forget, the catastrophe is still etched in our memory and has tremendous recall-value.

While KD succeeds in depicting the tiffs between the lovers, it's the disaster aspect that doesn't make much of an impact. That's because you strongly feel that the infamous Mumbai floods should've been given more prominence, instead of using it as a tool to take the story forward. 26th July, 2005 rang an ominous bell for most, but amidst all the chaos and the tragedy, it re-united two star-crossed ex-lovers.

Two people [Emraan Hashmi, Soha Ali Khan] meet after a hiatus of six years. What starts off as a seemingly innocuous encounter on the same flight back to Mumbai, ends up as a rollercoaster ride through some of the darkest hours of Mumbai, as they see the city get swamped with disaster and loss... and are forced to stick together in this time of crisis.

26th July, 2005 remains etched in your memory and I'm sure, every Mumbaikar would've a story to tell vis-à-vis what transpired with them or their beloved/relatives/friends/acquaintances on that fateful day. Tum Mile also highlights the dilemma of a couple, who once shared a beautiful relationship, but have moved on in life after they split, till they meet again on 26th July.

Opposites attract and so do Emraan and Soha in Tum Mile. Although their story goes back and forth several times, the narrative doesn't confuse the viewer one bit. So far, so good.

But the problem lies in integrating the natural calamity with the love story. Even if you're a non-Mumbaikar, you'd vividly recall the images that were flashed on news channels continuously or perhaps, you may've watched the footage on internet. But in Tum Mile, the nature's fury doesn't come across strongly or effectively. In a few scenes, yes, you do draw parallels with real life, but the impact it ought to make is just not there. Something is amiss!

KD has handled the love story very well. The tiffs between Emraan and Soha are so identifiable. The 'Dil Ibaadat' song in particular completely moves you. But how one wishes the film would've focussed more on the characters' attempts to escape or cope with the disaster or its aftermath.

Pritam's music is melodious to the core. The cinematography does justice to the beauty of South Africa [romantic portions] and also during the flood sequences. But the usage of stock footage, at places, doesn't work. The computer graphics could've been better and more effective.

Emraan takes giant strides as an actor. He continues to surprise in film after film. Grossly under-rated despite having delivered competent performances in the past, here's hoping that people wake up to this talented actor after Tum Mile. Like Emraan, Soha too has evolved into a truly fine actor and Tum Mile proves it. The best part is, Soha is extremely natural and that's what makes her sequences so believable. Sachin Khedekar is there for just one sequence. Mantra, as Emraan's friend, is confident.

On the whole, Tum Mile caters to the youth mainly. At the box-office, the Vishesh Films - Emraan Hashmi combo has cultivated a strong fan-base over the years and coupled with good music, which is also very popular, the film should find itself in the comfortable zone. However, the super-strong opposition in 2012 [also highlighting a disaster on celluloid and which has had a wide release in India] might eat into its business at places.

Athey Neram Adhey Idam Tamil Movie Review And Watch Online

‘Ore Oru Vaatti… Enkuda Oru Night Spend Pannu…. Ha..Ha..Ha.. Adhukku Appuram Naa Unna Tholla Panna Maatein’ – such hackneyed dialogues have been persistently rendered by our onscreen guys for making whoopee with heroines who dumped them by marrying someone else…

For the God’s sake, how long will our filmmakers keep beating the same bush with annoying stories? If you’ve watched the film, bang your heads and confess.

Sorry if we’ve hurt the feelings of Prabhu. We appreciate him for choosing a clichéd story with some twists in the second half. But then, it’s not so impressive and Prabhu could’ve worked for a slick narration.

Much similar to very old films where jobless hero roams around with his friends and comes across the heroine and falls in love at first sight and then there are some twists and turns. Karthi (Jai) falls in love with Janani (Vijayalakshmi) as he comes across first time. Later, he somehow impresses and manages to win her heart. But then father (Nizhalgal Ravi), who wants his son to fly Australia for higher studies.

Meanwhile, Janani marries someone else as the guy is rich and good looking. On his return flight, Karthi comes across a new friend Shiva (Rahul) and they become friends now. When Siva comes to know about Karthi’s pitiable love story, he urges him to take revenge on that girl who cheated him.

And now, our hero starts blackmailing Janani until she accepts to share her bed with him for a time. But the biggest shock is awaited for Karthi, when he comes to know that Janani is none other Shiva’s wife.

Jai looks tranquilized all throughout the film and maybe, he wasn’t interesting in this film. Vijayalakshmi doesn’t suit the glamour part and newcomers Rahul has a long way to go. Premji cannot afford to bring out a good music.

Finally, ‘Adhey Neram Adhey Idam’ could’ve been made with yet more finely tuned screenplay removing certain clichéd absurd factors.

A Christmas Carol English Movie Review And Watch Online

A Christmas Carol is one of my all time favorite Christmas stories. Maybe because most of the year I feel like a somewhat cranky Ebenezer Scrooge but once Thanksgiving is over my mood lightens over the spirit of the upcoming holiday. It seems that every few years someone feels the need to do an update onthe classic tale, and sometimes it works. Heck there have certainly been a lot of versions over the years (over two dozen on TV and in movies according to IMDB), and I’ve enjoyed many of those myself.

This time director Robert Zemeckis (who seems intent upon never making another live action film as long as he lives) brings us another 3D, IMAX, CGI motion-capture extravaganza. If the number of buzzwords there don’t tell you what this film is really about, then I can’t help you.

The movie stars Jim Carrey in a variety of roles, most notably old Scrooge himself. The Scrooge character, with it’s caricature-like features is actually the most effective one in the film (thankfully, since he’s the lead). Carrey also plays the three ghosts that come to haunt Ebenezer as well as Scrooge at younger ages. We also have Gary Oldman playing primarily Bob Cratchit and Bob Hoskins (briefly) playing Scrooge’s old boss Mr. Fezziwig. I mention these two in particular because someone made the decision to make the characters look very similar to the actors portraying them. I don’t know what effect they were going for, but I can tell you what the result was: Creepy.

It was just bizarre watching a CGI character that looked so much like Oldman, but not – with the only semi-human animatronic look that defines the “uncanny valley” (the very subtle things that aren’t right in attempted photo-real computer animated portrayal of humans). Most of thecharacters suffered from the same thing – it was like watching an animatronic display at Disneyland.

On the other hand there were glimpses of amazingly realistic people in the film – but these were always at a distance. There was one scene where I wanted to believe that they inserted a live actress into the film just as an “Easter Egg.” I respect Zemeckis for what he’s doing, I really do – he’s trying to push the frontier when it comes to people rendered as CGI. Problem is you have to get it PERFECT, otherwise your brain just kind of short-circuits looking at this “almost-real” person on the screen. This is why most CGI animated films use caricatures of humans – it’s easier for the mind to accept. By making blue-skinned, overly tall aliens with odd facial features I think James Cameron will get around this in Avatar.

And speaking of the upcoming 3D Cameron-helmed extravaganza, A Christmas Carol is in 3D. I’ve said many times before that I’m a fan of of 3D cinema, but not when it’s used as a gimmick. Overall I really enjoyed the 3D look ofthe film but there was one sequence that was stuck into the film that just didn’t belong and was there only for the sake of showing off the roller coaster effects and exaggerated 3D in the film . It was at least a five minute sequence and I was mentally tapping my fingers waiting for it to be over so we could get back to the story. Side note: There seemed to be a little tribute to the “tiny Ash” scene from Army of Darkness. :)

So what did I like? The story, of course, but they don’t get credit for that. I did enjoy the opening scene, which was very effective in showing just HOW miserly and feared Scrooge was. On the flip side, I also really enjoyed the “post-mean” ending ofthe film – it really gave us more time with the repentant Ebenezer than I’ve seen in any version to date.

Besides what I’ve mentioned, what I didn’t like was that the film was all over the spectrum in terms of tone – sometimes it was goofy-funny, and at other times had scenes that I think will scare the heck out of little kids. When his doorknob comes to life, that’s a heck of a scare and Marley’s jaw coming loose was worthy of a horror movie IMHO. Of course then they put a little “ha ha” moment on the end of that one, but by then your kids has had the poop scared out of them. Oh, and I have to mention the ghost of Christmas past – one of the most unexplainedly ridiculouscharacters I’ve ever seen on screen. Then again, maybe it’s me, some people were laughing at it, but frankly I was perplexed by the point of what is was doing and thought it was just plain stupid.

No doubt there will be comments below wittily calling me a Scrooge, but you’re too late, I did that in the opening paragraph. :) But seriously, as I said, I love this story – and I wish that Zemeckis had left the CGI behind and made it a live action film based onthe classic tale.

Kanden Kadhalai Tamil Movie Review And Watch Online

Kandein Kadhalai' is a remake of hit Bollywood film 'Jab We Met', which starred Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. Director R. Kannan has made subtle changes in the screenplay to suit Tamil audiences and it is sure to pass the box-office test with flying colours.

The film is undoubtedly a clean family entertainer. While Bharath plays Shahid's role, Tamannaah essays Kareena's part of the bubbly and talkative girl.

The film starts off just like the original - the dejected hero, hurt by a failed romance and family problems, gets into a train. The leading lady, bubbling with youthful zest, is travelling by the same train to her hometown Theni.

When the hero is grilled by the ticket examiner for travelling without a ticket, Tamannah steps in and saves him by paying off the penalty. And when Bharath alights, the girl follows him to console him and in the process misses the train.

Their journey by road to Theni, followed by Tamannaah's quest for her lover and how her positive energy inspires Bharath to rebuild his father's business forms the rest of the story.

Even though Bharath falls head-over-heels in love with Tamannaah, he helps her run away from home and escorts her to her lover's place.

But Tamannah is in for a shock as her lover refuses to accept her. Bharath then finds her, brings her back to her family and after much melodrama, the hero and heroine are united.

Bharath is definitely a revelation. In the first-half, his emotions are muted as per the needs of his character but in the second-half, he is into his elements and has a ball.

With each film of his, he is showing signs of maturity in his acting.

Tamannaah truly breathes life into the film. She floors the audience with her lightning smile and amazing expressions.

Tamannaah's beauty gets accentuated by the apt choice of costumes. And her non-stop chattering leaves the audiences asking for more!

Santhanam has a field day and his comic acts tickle the funny bones of viewers.

Muthiah's cinematography is definitely one of the films strengths - the picturesque locales of Ooty have never been shown more beautifully in any other film!

The music by Vidyasagar is good and soothing to the ears.

On the flip side, the second half drags a little but is saved by an interesting climax.

Jail hindi Movie Review And Watch Online

The exterior façade of Central Jail has been a significant setting in Hindi films with characters making exit from it for years now. But beyond that Bollywood has had quite a conventional portrayal of the prison. Madhur Bhandarkar's depiction of Jail goes beyond the clichéd images of chakki-peesing prisoners and convicts rupturing rocks in films. But then again the film lacks the Bhandarkar brand of shocking eye-openers.

Parag Dixit (Neil Mukesh) is leading a perfect life with a decent job and a loving girlfriend Maansi (Mughda Godse). Until one day when he is falsely implicated in a drug case and lands behind bars. Life changes overnight for him as he is exposed to an entirely new environment where he is supposed to survive while his case continues getting postponed in the court of law. Life expectedly is difficult inside the jail where he makes new friends including a convict warder Nawab (Manoj Bajpai) and Ghani (Rahul Singh) while living on hopes that he would be bailed out of the mess.

Most Madhur Bhandarkar films work on two levels. Firstly while unveiling the harsh less-known realities behind his chosen sphere of interest. Secondly how his protagonist reacts to these realities, resulting into the shaping of story and character conflicts. In Jail, he falls short on detailing the internal intricacies of imprisonment and the story gets slack with no distinctive graph to the character conflicts.

The writing by Madhur Bhandarkar, Manoj Tyagi and Anuradha Tiwari is genuine in terms of representing life inside jail. Barracks are crammed with convicts beyond its capacity, cops are bribed by prisoners, underworld operates even from inside, inmates indulge in homosexuality and doctors provisionally bail out detainees to government hospitals. But come to think of it, with the prison premise being so often exploited in films, most of it is common knowledge to the audience unlike Bhandarkar brand of shocking revelations.

Coming to the graph of the narrative, the plot is flatly reduced to Parag's pursuit for freedom which tends to get repetitive after a point with no ups and downs to the drama. The end is all the more convenient thereby denying the film a basic climax. That confines Jail to the feel of an extended documentary and the emotional connect isn't as poignant as films in similar setup of lockup like Nagesh Kukunoor's Teen Deewarien or the small film from across the border Ramchand Pakistani. Even Sridhar Raghavan's Ek Hasina Thi that wasn't essentially centered on the prison exploited the jail setting more effectively.

A major highlight of Madhur movies is the interesting array of supporting characters that he employs to good effect. Jail doesn't score high even on that note though it had tremendous scope to have an assortment of side-characters. There is the clichéd covetous criminal lawyer, a jailor constrained by higher authorities, a convict bores with his constant commentary of shayaris, another predicts future and so on but none amuse. The warder Nawab's soft corner-at-first-sight for Parag appears too fake and filmi. Also Nawab's flashback account appears too formulaic. The initial reel that Madhur squanders on Neil-Mughda's intimacy could have been rather utilized to portray Parag's upper crust lifestyle thereby serving as a subsequent contrast to his imprisoned life.

The unsuspecting average man characterization of Parag Dixit who lands up in unexpected trouble makes you relate to the protagonist for his vulnerability. Neil Mukesh does a decent job as the helpless victim though he occasionally struggles in emotional outbursts. Manoj Bajpai is restrained as compared to his other recent acts and plays his part perfectly. Rahul Singh is effective though his character is short-lived. Arya Babbar and Chetan Pandit are passable. Mughda Godse doesn't have much to do.

Compare Jail to Madhur Bhandarkar's earlier works and you would be disappointed to a degree. Nevertheless, compare it to many other mediocre movies of today and Jail is still a step ahead.

Couples Retreat English Movie Review And Watch Online

Couples Retreat shouldn’t be this smart. The film is, almost obviously, just an excuse for a bunch of Hollywood actors to take an extended vacation in an exotic location on the studio’s dime. It’s written by buddies Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn, so it’s not hard to believe that they’d concoct an excuse to take a vacation together. And for the audience, most of the movie feels like a vacation. It’s a relaxing experience, as close as you can get to hanging out on the beaches of Tahiti without actually going there. Gazing at the beautiful blues and perfect female bodies which surround the movie’s flabby male cast is almost cathartic; it’s like watching a tank full of tropical fish as a means of lowering your blood pressure.

Far worse than the movie’s somewhat lazy intentions is the blatant product placement. They had to pay for this vacation somehow. Smack dab in the middle of the film is a lengthy and jarring scene which can only be explained as a five-minute commercial for Guitar Hero. It serves no purpose in the story and doesn’t fit anything that’s going on. I’m not even convinced that it’s directed by Peter Billingsly, who helmed the rest of the film. It feels like it fell out of a Toys R Us ad and it is without a doubt the lowest form of product placement I have ever seen in any movie.

Except I said this was smart, didn’t I? It’s not all smart and maybe smart is too strong a word. Yet it’s hard to escape the fact that in spite of all of the above, Couples Retreat actually has some fairly well-thought out insight into the problems people deal with in long term relationships. It lives up to its title. It is, product placement aside, the perfect movie for couples. Great scenery happens, lines are delivered by comfortably familiar actors who take you on a few quick forays into the kinds of realistic issues which may be plaguing your relationship, and then there’s a romantic ending by a waterfall. You’ll leave feeling de-stressed, squeezing your spouse’s hand as you head home for a cuddle before the babysitter drops off the kids.

It starts with friends, four couples of similar age and income status. Jason Bateman and Kristen Bell are married and having trouble. To save their relationship they need a trip to a specialty couples counselor, who runs a program for marriages in trouble on a far off island location. They can’t afford the course unless they get the group rate, so they strong-arm their friends into going along. They arrive and are immediately tortured. Each couple’s flaws are revealed and reasons for Faizon Love to go naked are concocted. The movie works best in its couples counseling scenes, in which each couple sits down with a therapist to work out their issues. Though the counselors in these sessions are played by people like The Hangover’s Dr. Ken, Couples Retreat seems to make a conscious decision to minimize the laughs and try thought provoking instead. Outside those sessions it’s sunshine and Vince Vaughn dealing with mildly amusing shark attacks, inside you’ll watch married people struggle to come to grips with the sort of stuff your marriage might be dealing with.

It’s a strange dynamic but one that balances out in the end. Couples Retreat is ridiculous and whorish, but the minds behind it are too sharp to simply leave it at that. It is exactly what it says it is: a couples retreat. Singles, stay on your side of the island, there’s nothing here for you.

Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani Hindi Movie Review And Watch Online

The one thing you can't overlook noticing in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is how Rajkumar Santoshi takes liberal references from every popular prem kahani of Bollywood and ends up with an ajeeb (weird) jumbled screenplay.

Prem (Ranbir Kapoor), with his friends, runs a Happy Club that works towards uniting people in love. When a new-girl Jenny (Katrina Kaif) shifts in the fancy town, Prem is predictably attracted towards her but doesn't dare to propose till half the film. So when Jenny accepts Prem's proposal and they start singing songs, you clearly know it's a dream sequence.

Jenny's foster-parents take her to Goa to get her married against her will. Prem reaches there and promises to bail her out of the situation ala Shah Rukh Khan from DDLJ. Soon Jenny reveals she loves Rahul (Upen Patel) giving the film a Jab We Met triangular twist. Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa comes into picture as Prem tries hard to get Rahul away from Jenny.

A politician and an underworld don create more chaos until the film reaches its clichéd climax. It's for the zillionth time since Dil Hai Ke Maanta Nahi that realization strikes the bride on her marriage day as she walks out to seek true love. The happy end is a result of the divine intervention with a literal Christ Ne Bana Di Jodi conclusion.

Right from the opening sequence, Santoshi makes it 'loud' and clear that the flavour of his comedy is slapstick with a comic-strip feel to the storytelling. To an extent he is also successful in making you laugh through the buffoonery of his characters. The real funny sequences include a cameo by Salman Khan and when Ranbir gets into Katrina's top. But when the director attempts to make sense through a nearly derived storyline, the film falls flat.

Occasionally Ranbir Kapoor seems to be in the Saawariya hangover with his over-excited husky baritone and innocent conduct. But otherwise he gives a spirited performance, showcasing his flair for comedy and grace in dancing. Katrina Kaif looks absolutely charming in her cute short outfits and shares splendid screen chemistry with Ranbir Kapoor. Upen Patel still struggles to act. And nothing in the film is (unintentionally) funnier than Govind Namdeo's animated expressions.

This one is Ajeeb prem ki gareeb kahani.

Saw 6 English Movie Review And Watch Online

I am not a consistent fan of the SAW series. I love that it is a franchise, I love that it has filled the Halloween event film void that went vacant for far too long, but as far as quality goes, part 3 was the last of the entries that I enjoyed. Part 4 had me likening the intertwining plots and bullshit twists to a Klein bottle, a hypothetical mathematical construct that works on paper, but cannot exist in the real world. And Part 5 found me writing the least professional review I’ve ever put my name on. And yet I am now forgiving of those two films, because SAW 6 isn’t only good, it’s good enough to make the mistakes learned on those two worth it.

It’s not just a matter of being pleasantly surprised by low expectations, either. Gone are the ludicrous plot devices, the endless retconing that kept re-writing the Jigsaw mythos, the need to build towards some hackneyed twist. What remains is a tightly wound story that keeps the Jigsaw tradition alive without the need to jump through holes in space and time just to keep Tobin Bell in the picture. Sure, the gore is still there and Jigsaw still does show up in flashbacks, but the script Dunstan and Melton have written is the most restrained, linear, goal-driven backbone the series has ever had. And though director Kevin Greutert, who has edited every single one of the prior SAW entries, has kept the staple spinning camera and boiler room lighting, his film also has more mature aspirations towards showing the ‘big picture’ of each trap, building tension by anticipation; as opposed to the last few films that were overflowing with surprises to the point of absurdity.

Basically, if you had written the series off, as I had, you’re going to be shocked at how solid of a film SAW 6 is. The script may be a little too topical for some, as this time around the story follows the journey of a man, William (Peter Outerbridge), who devised a formula for an insurance company to project possible earnings depending on an applicant’s probability to live long enough to pay them a tidy profit, rejecting coverage to those who don’t fit that bill. Jigsaw, who has spent 5 films explaining his twisted philosophy that life should never be taken for granted, has a bit of a problem with this, so he has arranged for William and his complacent staff to make the same kind of life-or-death decisions for each other that they make for complete strangers.

Considering Dunstan/Melton’s script would have been written right before the recent health care reform debate reared its hydra-head highest, it actually doesn’t come off as preachy as one might think reading that synopsis. Save for a sentence or two, there’s no grand accusations that the ’system’ needs radical changing and that Jigsaw should be Obama’s Torture Reform Czar; rather that the system is merely run by people and some of those people willfully cripple access to health care for profit, passing death sentences to other human beings in the process. This setup finally allows the series to get back to focusing on Jigsaw’s original motivation of forcing people to come face-to-face with the moral dilemma they’ve been too glutinous to confront in the past. That the series has moved on from helpless heroin junkies to greedy office works while still maintaining the same ideology is quite impressive.

For gorehounds the moral quandries of SAW 6 are not nearly as impressive as the gruesome setups, which are some of the best in the series thus far. One still needs to suspend disbelief that any individual (or individuals) could meticulously engineer such intricate traps that never, ever fail to go off with perfect timing, but the kills this time around are all appropriate for the mood of the rest of the movie. Self-mutilation has always been a requisite of the series, but this is the first time that sacrifice plays more of an important part than simply cutting yourself up to get a surgically implanted key or bleeding yourself out into a jug like some kind of twisted game of Double Dare.

Even Costas Mandylor, who has been a big part of the series for a while now, isn’t quite as flat as he used to be. The contrast between himself and Jigsaw has never been so dynamic, which gives the series a new layer I always felt it was lacking in the past. But the show this time around doesn’t belong to Mandylor or even Bell, but Peter Outerbridge as the insurance man dying to change. He is a man on a terrible mission, perfectly striking the balance between greed in the beginning and raw desperation by the end. All the other victims are solid, even if most are only ever required to look like they don’t want to lose a limb, but Outerbridge is easily given the best material to work with. And he’s shaped the best “protagonist” the series has had since Angus Macfadyen in part 3.

Speaking of the previous entries, despite how good of a film SAW 6 is, the others are certainly a required watch before going into it. While the film doesn’t crash between timelines, it does constantly reference things and characters that have been peppered throughout the franchise, so one needs to be at least passingly familiar with them to avoid total sensory overload. Unfortunately that means enduring the complete mess that is 5, but at least SAW 6 is worth it. If Dunstan and Melton are allowed to keep the script as restrained as they’ve now proven they can, I think SAW 6 is going to mark a very welcome turning point for the series. At the very least, it no longer has me dreading the idea of going back to this well 2 or 3 more times.

Aladin Hindi Movie Review And Watch Online

In accordance with a prominent line from the film “ Buri aadat badal daalo, Aladin ko maar daalo ”, director Sujoy Ghosh kinda kills the magic of the legendary fairy tale character in his contemporary adaptation of the Arabian Nights account. Certainly the inspiration is interesting but the execution tends to become formulaic.

Aladin Chatterjee (Riteish Deshmukh) is bullied in school for being namesake of the fairy tale character. Classmates often ridicule him by making him rub lamps through which no genie emerges. And one fine day, Genius, the Genie (Amitabh Bachchan) does come out of the lamp, much to Aladin’s disbelief. Genius is on the verge of retirement and has his last three wishes to grant to his final master Aladin.

In such state of affairs, what could have shaped up as a fantastic fantasy ride from hereon, merely ends up being a formula-driven love story. Ideally the viewer expects Aladin to make magnanimous wishes from the Genie to add a new flamboyant flavour to the revisited fairy tale. Unfortunately all of Aladin’s wishes are expended only in winning his ladylove Jasmine (Jacqueline Fernandez). Jasmine is predictably the new entrant in college who Aladin dreams of but doesn’t dare to propose.

Much like Aladin realizes he doesn’t want to win his love through downright magic despite having the choice, this is one Bollywood plot that resorts to minimalism (in storytelling) when it had absolute scope to get larger than life.

Then there’s also a villain in the form of Ringmaster (Sanjay Dutt) who keeps clowning around with his team of circus extras. An ex-genie, he wants to use the magic of lamp for himself over humankind. There’s also a comet whose reflection is to be captured through the conventional climax combat.

Sujoy Ghosh does make a decent attempt to interpret the anecdotes of Aladin in his own cinematic language. Characterizations of Marjina and Qasim are loosely derived from another popular Arabian Nights story Alibaba and the Forty Thieves . A female frog serves as a reference to the fable of The Frog Prince . Ghosh has a vibrant vision in depicting scenes where the Genie opens doors to Aladin’s dreams. Some characters of the Ringmaster’s crew are creatively caricatured like a Wolverine-nailed sidekick and a masked sexy figure without a face.

But soon enough the bound script (that’s Sujoy’s banner name) writing by Sujoy Ghosh, Ritesh Shah and Suresh Nair opens up to an assortment of Bollywood clichés. The basic romance plot reminds of Rakesh Roshan’s Koi Mil Gaya with Riteish playing the underdog and Genie replacing Jadoo who helps him woo the girl. Sadly Sahil Khan can’t even match Rajat Bedi in being the bad bully guy.

The scene where Ringmaster reveals the secret past to Aladin and creates a rift between him and Genie seems distinctly derived from a similar scene in Main Hoon Na where Suniel Shetty divides step-brothers Shahrukh and Zayed. Also the pre-climax song has an exactly analogous setting as the prom-night Gori Gori track from Main Hoon Na . The screenplay also turns back to DDLJ for the trademark ‘ agar ladki palat ti hai, toh pyaar karti hai ’ scene.

The VFX effects supervised by Charles Darby ( Matrix, Harry Potter ) comprise of some decently done sequences. But the director can’t ignore the inclination to include some tacky juvenile jugglery on screen like the archaic electrocution sequence catering strictly to the kids. Sabu Cyril’s art direction gives a fantasy feel to the hill-station town. There’s too much of song and dance and Vishal-Shekhar’s musical score is just passable.

One can perfectly envisage Riteish Deshmukh for the character of Aladin for the kind of expressions he is capable of. But he doesn’t go beyond your imagination. Amitabh Bachchan is vivacious as the Genie but gets loud and animated at times. Sanjay Dutt amuses to an extent through the buffoonery of his character. Jacqueline Fernandez looks absolutely stunning and can give the Kareenas and Katrinas a run-for-money through her gorgeous looks. The immensely talented Ratna Pathak Shah is wasted in an inconsequential role. Mita Vashisht almost apes Archana Puran Singh’s character from Masti but hams it up badly.

Just in case a Genie ever emerges out from your lamp, for Aladin’s sake, wish for once that our filmmakers come up with better ‘bound scripts’ and more enthralling adaptations. Till then all flights of fantasy should go on strike.

This Is It English Movie Review And Watch Online

This Is It, the documentary created from footage of Michael Jackson's last rehearsals for what supposed to be a final 50-show run in London this summer, is not a Thriller by any means. But if you're a fan, you'll still love it.

The film, which premiered last night, felt like a trip down memory lane, a riveting live concert, and a behind-the-scenes documentary all rolled into one.

Whatever his private struggles and addictions may have done to him, they aren't evident here as Michael Jackson is vivid, smooth and polished at 50.

When Sony paid $60 million for the rights to 100 hours of rehearsal footage to pare down to two, we still wondered if that could make a decent film.

It did.

When you're working with an unparalleled music icon, that's a plus. A quarter-century later, we see Michael singing "Bad," "Billie Jean," "Wanna Be Starting Something" and other hits, moving just as fluidly as in his heyday.

The music conjures back memories and breaks one's heart. The elaborate sets, 3-D graphics and dancers are also a sight to behold on the big screen.

It is perhaps the portrait of Michael Jackson himself that really makes This Is It worth seeing, however. A perfectionist with a sense of humor, deeply troubled but deeply caring, he was a man who his fans know was not easily put in a box.

The best, and most undeniable thing you can say about Jackson was that he was an artiste. This is obviously the best possible spin on his final days, but nevertheless an honest one. For two hours, it's all about Michael the musician.

No Dr. Conrad Murray, no paternity tests, no drugs, no legal problems.

It's a beautiful thing.

If nothing else, it's a great chance to pay tribute and gaze in amazement one last time at a singer, dancer, icon and entertainer who influenced so many.
